We use our phones daily, so we do charge them a lot. But be sure to avoid these following things that are totally damaging your phone.

Even though mobile phones are becoming technology wonders within every year and are getting as smart as regular computers, there are some points that should be considered when using a smartphone, most importantly, regarding their energy. We have pointed out some common charging mistakes and explained why it is important to avoid them:

  1. Discharging the battery completely
We have all rushed towards our charger when our phone’s battery life dropped at 1% or even died. It’s such a commonplace, but the truth is, discharging the battery completely is particularly a colossal damage to the smartphone. Every time the battery is discharged to zero, the internal stability of the battery cells is reduced, so the next time you charge your phone, it will have a lower battery capacity.

  2. Overheating the battery
High temperatures can stress the battery. Don’t leave your smartphone in an open sun or put it under the pillow when charging overnight. You are risking bursting out the battery or melting out the contacts. Devices should also be protected from cold. Most phone manufacturers recommend keeping the devices between 0 to 33 degree Celsius while using.

  3. Using cheap chargers
It may seem harmless when using another, rather than original, phone’s charger. Most of the cheap chargers don’t distribute electricity flow evenly so this can lead to some serious injuries. Don’t hesitate to spend a little more money on an original charger – you may save not only your device, but yourself as well.

  4. Charging battery to 100 percent
You are making quite a big mistake when plugging in your phone to charge every night. Many believe that devices work best with the battery level of 70-80 percent. Therefore, experts recommend charging your smartphone in a shorter period rather than leaving it for an hour or so.

  5. Charging wirelessly too often
You can now charge many smartphones without using a charging cable. The energy is transferred wirelessly via induction just like some of the modern cookers work these days. But if you continue to use this charging method quite often, it can damage the phone’s battery.

  6. Charging with a protective case
The protective cases are made to protect the devices from falls and scratches in everyday life, but many cases are just damaging the phone. This tight ‘second-skin’ may lead your phone to overheat and damage the battery. Remember to always remove the phone cover before charging.

  7. Storing devices with empty batteries
Keeping your spare phones uncharged can damage the battery. In an emergency situation, you are risking making damage to the entire phone, which of course, is the opposite of the desired effect of a spare device. Most experts always recommend keeping battery level at least at 30 percent.

Try avoiding these mistakes in the future so you can not only maintain a good battery power, but also extend the life of your device.
